I’d like to dedicate “Dreams” to the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

I’d like to take this time to dedicate ‘Dreams’, a set of 3 songs I wrote last year, to the men and women who fought for their rights in the March on Washington, 50 years ago. Figures like Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, are but only some of the names of the people who sacrificed a lot, so that we could get to where we are today. These 3 songs I wrote are based on 3 poems: The Dream Keeper, Dreams, and Youth. There are Langston Hughes poems. So here is ‘Dreams: 3 songs set to poetry by Langston Hughes. Enjoy!

I got to meet the President last night!!

Picture with the First Family at the White House

I got to meet president Obama and the first lady last night, and it was a real cool experience. I also got to see and play in the same room with different celebrities/politicians such as Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, Chris Tucker, Lynn Whitfield, Forest Whitaker, John Lewis, and many more.  But overall, the event was very classy and it was for a great cause, the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. And the President and First Lady are really warm and friendly people.

At first when we had arrived, we had to give our names and go through security checkpoint. After that, we entered, got settled in, and did our thing. The event was a big reception commemorating the historic cause. There was also a lot of people there, 1000’s I believe. I didn’t know that the White House could fit that many people in there. It looks small on the outside, but bigger inside because of the different floors, and it utilizes underground compartments. Then we waited for the President, and before the President came in, I thought, ‘what do you say again?’…oh yeah, (deep voice) ‘Good evening Mr. President’ lol.

Really glad I got a chance to do something like this.

I’m performing at the White House tonight!

Hey!

Just got an opportunity a few days ago from my old high school teacher, Ned Lewis, to play for the White House this evening. I’m real excited and the event is a reception hosted by the President and First Lady. The event is in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.  Here’s a link to see the event on the White House agenda [http://www.whitehouse.gov/schedule/complete]

Wish me luck! Peace…

Chris
